April Ross
April Ross is one of only a few female beach volleyball players to win medals at more than one Olympics. In Tokyo during the next few days she will attempt to claim her third Olympic medal alongside the first-time Olympian Alix Klineman. Ross wants to achieve more than her first Olympic medal. Since she's 39 years old, it may be her last chance. But she's confident top awards can be achieved. Ross stated to NBC Boston that if they are at their absolute best or play a great game her team can win a gold medal. Therefore, I'm hoping to have some luck also. Ross is born in the year 1982. Costa Mesa California where she lived with her parents and sister. Her athletic career was continued by Newport Harbor High School where she participated in several activities. She was a basketball player and also ran track, in addition to her indoor volleyball achievements as a prep athlete. Although she was a pro when playing indoors, it was clear that her skills were above average. In her college volleyball season, according to her college biography she played as an outside-hitter, middle blocker and setter. Her achievements were rewarded when she was named 1999 Gatorade's National Circle of Champions Players of the Year. She also captured the 1999 Orange County Athlete of the year award for volleyball. Ross and Klineman started their partnership in 2017, however, Ross has been a beach player for years prior to. Actually Ross has won a number of important tournaments throughout her career with two partners. One of them is a volleyball legend. The pair teamed together with Jennifer Kessy from 2007-2013, and was also Klineman's personal trainer. Kessy and Ross were a formidable force in the international arena, taking home a 2009 world title together. The duo would go through to take home a silver medal at the 2012 Olympic Games at London. Misty Maytreanor (Jennings) and Misty Maytreanor won gold, beating them to it. Ross Jennings replaced May-Treanor after she had retired. In 2016, the duo took bronze at the Rio Olympics for beach volleyball. Ross was a student athlete with the Trojans of USC prior to the start of her professional career. She was a player in high school, as well as years prior to hitting the beach as a professional. The Trojans had a great performance for Ross during her time at the college level. Ross had just become a second-year student at USC. This meant that Ross is still close to her parent who died.
